I have been an experimental artist on the South Coast of England for over twenty years.
Hello.
My name is Bec Hopkins, and I make bright and bold, fun paper cut illustrations, statement gold leaf mixed media abstract paintings and hand painted vintage plates.
My work has been described as fearless, expressive and beautiful. I am an all weather sea swimmer which inspires much of my work. Inspired by nature (in particular the coast and sky) my works of art make a statement in any room.
I use many different mediums, in particular acrylic and gold leaf with palette knives to get a beautiful texture and I enjoy the freedom I have when using these tools. I also love to use Indian ink and watercolour on Khadi paper. When I'm making illustrations I use paper cutout collage with recycled and found papers.
I showcase my work throughout the year locally in West Sussex and Hampshire and can be seen in PO10 in Emsworth, Artisans Gallery in Chichester, Montague Gallery in Worthing and Petworth Pop Up Shop in Petworth, every year I open my studio for two weekends for the Chichester Open Studios. I can set up home viewings on request and occasionally do open studio sales from my home studio.
